Dear Chair Derby:
I write on behalf of Hillary Clinton for President (”the Committee”) in regard to the January 19, 2008 Nevada Democ-ratic Caucus. The Committee is aware of a letter addressed to you today from the Obama for America campaign requesting an inquiry into the conduct of the caucuses. The Committee shares the Obama campaign’s concern that full participation in the democratic process may have been compromised by the substantial number of irregularities occurring at the caucuses, and we fully support a complete inquiry by the Nevada State Democratic Party (the ”Party”) into all caucus improprieties.

This letter is not intended as a response to the Obama campaign’s letter. However, in the interest of a complete record, and in contrast to the alleged minor procedural problems noted by the Obama campaign, the Committee wishes to bring to your attention information we have received evidencing a premeditated and predesigned plan by the Obama campaign to engage in systematic corruption of the Party’s caucus procedures. Compounding this blatant distortion of the caucus rules was an egregious effort by the Obama campaign to manipulate the voter registration process in its own favor, thereby disenfranchising countless voters. Finally, the Committee has received a vast number of reliable reports of voter suppression and intimidation by the Obama campaign or its allies.

The Committee had 30 phone lines on Saturday to receive calls in its Las Vegas offices. These lines rang continuously from early morning until well after the caucuses concluded with reports from people who were victimized and who observed irregularities. The phone lines were so over-whelmed that many callers resorted to calling individual Committee staff cell phones to report that they could not get through. The Committee also received many similar calls at its national headquarters.

The Committee is confident that any investigation into the conduct of the caucuses will be thorough, fair and in the interest of insuring that future Party caucuses will be as open and democratic as possible.

Systematic Corruption of the Party’s Caucus Procedures
The Committee received substantially similar reports of improprieties of such a number as to leave no conclusion but that the Obama campaign and its allies and supporters engaged in a planned effort to subvert the Party’s caucus procedures to its advantage. For example:

þ Preference cards were premarked for Obama.

þ Clinton supporters were denied preference cards on the basis that none were left, while Obama supporters at the same caucus sites were given preference cards.

þ Caucus chairs obviously supporting Obama:
o Deliberately miscounted votes to favor Senator Obama.
o Deliberately counted unregistered persons as Obama votes.
o Deliberately counted young children as Obama votes.
o Refused to accept preference cards from Clinton supporters who were at the caucus site by noon on the ground that the cards were not filled out fast enough.
o Told Clinton supporters to leave prior to electing delegates.

þ Clinton supporters who arrived late were turned away from the caucus, while late Obama supporters were admitted to the caucus.

Manipulation of the Voter Registration Process
Numerous reports received by the Committee demonstrate a concerted effort on the part of the Obama campaign and its supporters to prevent eligible voters supporting a candidate other than Senator Obama from caucusing. The Obama supporters complained of were acting in positions of authority at the caucus sites. Some of these reports are as follows:

þ Obama supporters wrongly informed Clinton supporters that they were not allowed to participate in the caucus if their names were not on the voter rolls. However, Obama supporters whose names did not appear on the voter rolls were permitted to register at the caucus site.

þ Obama supporters falsely informed Clinton supporters that no registration forms were available for them to register to vote at the caucus site.

þ Obama supporters wrongly told Clinton supporters who were attempting to caucus at the wrong precinct that they could not caucus at that site, while simultaneously permitting Obama supporters at the wrong precinct to participate.

þ Obama supporters were allowed to move to the front of the registration and sign-in line.

Voter Suppression and Intimidation
The Committee received a substantial number of disturbing reports from voters that they had been subject to harassment, intimidation or efforts to prevent them from voting. Some of the most egregious of these complaints are described below:

þ Voters at at-large caucus sites were informed that those sites were for Obama supporters only.

þ Clinton supporters at at-large caucus sites were told that their managers would be watching them while they caucused.

þ Workers were informed that their supervisors kept lists of Clinton and Obama supporters, and were told that they could not caucus unless their name was on the list of Obama supporters.

þ Many Clinton supporters were threatened with employment termination or other discipline if they caucused for Senator Clinton.

þ Workers were required to sign a pledge card to support Obama if they wanted time off to participate in the caucus.
þ Workers at one casino were offered a lavish lunch and permitted to attend and register to vote only if they agree to support Obama.

The complaints summarized above represent only a small sample of the complaints received by the Committee. With respect to each of these complaints and many more, the Committee has the names and phone numbers of those reporting these incidents and the specific precinct numbers where the incidents occurred. Upon request the Committee will share these with the Party with appropriate safeguards to protect these individuals from reprisal. On the whole, these reports show a troubling effort by the Obama campaign and its allies and supporters to advance their own campaign at the expense of the right of all Nevada Democrats to participate in the democratic process in a free, fair and open manner.

Senator Clinton and the Committee are wholly committed to ensuring that every eligible voter has his or her vote cast and counted. There is no place in the American electoral process for the types of voter suppression, intimidation and harassment systematically engaged in by the Obama campaign, its allies and supporters.

Here are statements from delegates at the convention sent to a Hilraiser who was very involved with the delegates:

ARKANSAS: "I was so angry at the sham of a roll call that I just wanted it to be over... " "the last time I felt such unbearable group pressure was on a jury" " Obama representatives yelling, you'll be sorry" to "hold outs". It was brutal."

Delegate [redacted] reports that, "The California vote was about 230+ for Obama to 160+ for Clinton which did not reflect the state vote. The process was completely controlled by the DNC and the Obama campaign. They had us all vote at breakfast. They took our votes and tallied them. They did this to see how close the numbers would be between Obama and Clinton. The aim was to prevent the public from seeing the closeness of the race. California passed because the Obama/Dean,Nancy Church(DNC) told it to pass. It was a sham, show, farce, gimmick."

CONNECTICUT: "I felt blindsided, bullied, mugged. I saw delegates being verbaly arm twisted with threats of loss of positions." "One Obama delegate was bright red, yelling right up in my face".

GEORGIA: (text message) "This is insane. They are yelling at the delegates to vote bo or their political careers are over".

IOWA: (not sure if this is a delegate) "Does anyone think this has been a fair, open, transparent process? Voting before nominating speeches? Voting in front of people who have power over many of the delegates? No clear process to avoid ballot fraud? Remind you of caucuses??? Chaos and lack of clarity and consistency?"

KENTUCKY: [name redacted]: "I was overwhelmed by e-mails in support of Hillary. I want you to know that kept my word and voted for Hillary despite strong pressure to do otherwise."

Another delegate: "Our Hillary delegation was shouted at, told that they would be perceived as racists, told that their careers would be over if they voted for Hillary. Perhaps because of this, Hillary had a private meeting to thank our delegates. Clinton won the state by nearly 40 points. Nonetheless, the roll call was annnounced as Obama 36, Hillary 24."

MARYAND: [name redacted, not sure if this is a delegate, but she was on the convention floor]: I am extremely proud of the Clintons, however, I am no longer a democrat. I cannot forgive the DNC as easily, I cannot forget the caucus fraud, nor can I forgive the democratic leaders who allowed the mass media to treat Hillary in such a horrendous manner. I cannot ignore Obama's unscrupulous associations or his dirty politics. He is not my candidate... My mom called me after Hillary called to suspend the roll call vote. I don't believe I have ever heard my mother cry before. It broke my heart. She told me that her vote for Hillary is the last time she will ever vote. The despair in her voice was unbearable... I can only say, I will not be voting for McCain, but I will be voting against Obama.

MASSACHUSETTS: "What a contrast to the Olympics where in spite of the cutthroat competition, there is at least a veneer of sportsmanship and mutual support".

MICHIGAN: (not sure if this is a delegate) Not only did Hillary not "lose by a tiny margin", she lost through thuggery and cheating. And this is the man around which we're supposed to rally?" "And as with MI earlier, unearned votes were taken from HRC and given to BO."

MINNESOTA: "I voted for Senator Clinton today, and my delegation chastised me. I was told, 'You just made your worse political decision, and it will be your last.' At least I can sleep at night knowing I voted for what I believed in".

NEW HAMPSHIRE: "What thugs they are. They make it clear that they really do not need us and have no intention of doing anything about the unity they mouth." "Our state voted strongly for Clintonhas but has a close senate race and the candidate, the head of our delegation, was threatened that funds would be withdrawn. The state cast most of its votes for Obama".

NEW JERSEY: "We overheard delegates from our state which had voted strongly for HRC saying that they understood DNC funding for local races in their state would be dependent on a unanimous delegation vote". unds would be withdrawn. The state cast most of its votes for Obama".

NJ: A delegate was told he "needn't worry about his vote - the totals for New Jersey were irrelevant, that the delegation was going to announce as unanimous".

OREGON: [name redacted]: "I DID scream "nay" when Pelosi called for the unanimous acclamation. When I told the Oregon DNC state committeeman I wanted it recorded, he said it didn't matter. It was already recorded. So much for celebrating the passage of the 19th Ammendment on Tuesday."

RHODE ISLAND: "I think the whole party just blew what should have been a Democratic shoo-in". "Nancy Pelosi and The DNC insulted and humiliated the Clintons during this convention and it I can't be the only one who noticed."

TENNESSEE: Jackson Slade: To the Editor, NYT: "After hearing Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's superb speech, I must express my admiration for Senator Barack Obama's confidence. By choosing Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. as his running mate, he obviously feels that he can win without her and her passionate supporters."

Another HRC pledged delegate, realizing that it did not matter how his delegation voted, announced that "it is obvious that the Obama campaign has no regard for the Clinton delegates or voters, that they were making it clear that Obama does not feel he has to treat us with even minimal respect."

WASHINGTON: a delegate reports that the delegation chair did not hold a breakfast vote, telling the HRC delegatess to vote after what turned out to be the deadline, But in the end, "the WA HRC delegation held firm, but never got to register its votes".

Well, well, well, look what has surfaced. wow. And this is how Obama won thirteen out of 14 caucuses (and only 18 out of 39 primaries).

Below are 1/2 of the indecent reports from El Paso Texas caucuses in the 2008 primary Hillary vs. Barack Obama. There are literally 100's more than this throughout the state, and tons more in other states as well. The Texas caucus results should have been thrown the heck out. But of course, that would hurt Obama, so they were ignored by the DNC and by the media.
